When I asked an officemate based in our branch office in Zamboanga City where we should stay on our holiday, she suggested Lantaka Hotel. And I’m glad that she did because the hotel is strategically located since it’s just walking distance to Fort Pilar, Paseo del Mar and the tourism office where you make arrangements to visit Sta. Cruz (Pink) Island. It faces the Moro Gulf with a view of Basilan Island. It’s also near the port where ferry trips to Basilan, Jolo and Malaysia (via Sandakan) are available.
Obviously one of the oldest, if not the oldest in the city. The rooms are clean but a bit old-fashioned. It’s also very quiet, though I’m not sure if the walls are that thick or there are just no other guests at all.
It’s an old hotel but it has a pool. It’s sad to note, however, that they’re overlooking small details like the dirty cabana curtains or the torn colored sail of a mock vinta by the bay.
Overall, Lantaka Hotel is a very good option to stay in Zamboanga.
